The terms
This is a plain description of how CampusClear works today, written by the people who built it. It has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer. We are publishing it because you deserve to know what happens to your information before you decide to trust us with it, not because it is finished.
Who may hold an account
CampusClear is for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to hold an account, and creating one asks you to say so before it will let you continue. We do not ask you to prove it: this is something you assert rather than something we verify, and we would rather say so than imply a check we do not perform.
A student under thirteen cannot be tracked by this product. That one we do check, against the date of birth you give for the student, and the database refuses the record outright.
You may hold an account as a parent tracking a student, as a student tracking yourself, or as both. One account tracks one student.
What you are agreeing to about school systems
You may only give us a school login that is yours. Not your child’s, not your partner’s, not anyone else’s. Many school systems record every sign-in in an access log a school can read, so a login used here may be visible to your school as activity on that account.
When you connect a school system with a username and password — Canvas or Infinite Campus — we store that login, encrypted, and use it to sign in on your behalf and read your data. We only ever read. We do not submit work, send messages, or change anything in your school account. You can disconnect at any time, and disconnecting destroys the stored login.
Your school’s own terms still apply to you. We are not a party to them and we cannot waive them on your behalf.
What we charge
Nothing, today. No payment provider is connected to this application, so there is nothing to buy and nothing to cancel. What CampusClear will charge has not been settled, and this section is unfinished until it is.
Whatever an account’s state, you keep access to your own data — you can see it, export it and delete it. The academic history is yours, not ours to hold hostage.
What we do not promise
We read school systems we do not control. They change, they go down, and they sometimes refuse us. We will tell you when we cannot see something rather than showing you a stale number as though it were current, but we cannot promise the data is always there.
Nothing here is a prediction about admissions. The college figures we show are the published grade averages of students who enrolled, which is not the same thing as who was admitted, and we say so on the page where they appear.
Where this is still unfinished
A lawyer has not reviewed this yet. Until one has, treat it as a clear statement of how we intend to behave rather than as a finished contract.
